Ingredients (for 4 burgers):
For the Patties:
1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, or Worcestershire sauce
4 burger buns (brioche or sesame seed buns work great)
Butter for toasting
Toppings (choose your favorites):
Lettuce
Tomato slices
Onion slices (red or white)
Pickles
Cheese slices (cheddar, American, Swiss, etc.)
Ketchup, mustard, mayo, or burger sauce
Instructions:
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
Form into patties about ¾-inch thick and slightly wider than the buns (they shrink while cooking).
Season both sides with salt and pepper (and other seasonings if using).
Grill or pan-fry on medium-high heat.
Cook for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness. Add cheese slices during the last minute to melt.
Optional: press down slightly with a spatula to get a nice sear.
Spread butter on the insides of the buns.
Toast in a pan or on the grill until golden and crispy.
Bottom bun → sauce → lettuce → patty with cheese → tomato → onion → pickles → top bun.
Serve immediately with fries, chips, or a side salad.
